Hampshire Junior Chess Congress - 2018
The Hampshire Junior Chess Congress was held at the excellent venue of Winchester College.
The Congress attracted a big entry in excess of 90 for this years event and Basingstoke players generally fared well.
In the Under 8 section which was smaller than usual Edison Brown scored 4 out of 6 and finished third.
At the under 10 event Ted Mayne also scored well with 4 out of 6 and finished fourth in a very large and strong field of players. Vir Dixit playing in his first ever Congress posted a good score of 3 out of 6.
The Under 12 event was also strong with many good graded players. Jay Negargar in his first Congress scored 2 1/2 out of 6 and Bryan Vaz recorded a score of 2 out of 6.
