Basingstoke Junior Chess Championship

The Basingstoke Junior Chess Championship attracted an entry of 20 juniors.
Pre-tournament favourite Daniel Yu lived up to his billing and won the competition with 6 points out of six.
The surprise packet in the competition was seven year old Jacob Goodchild. In his first visit to the club let alone playing in a competition he scored 4 out of 6 losing only to Daniel Yu and strong player Bryan Vaz.
All in all the competition provided many interesting games atrophynd all the players received a souvenir trophy.
Daniel Yu was presented with the winners prize and the Robin Higgs Trophy.
