Two members of the Basingstoke Junior Chess Club had outstanding success at the above event held at St.Joseph's School in Swindon.
Daniel Shek played in the U8 section (Sunday 19th Feb), and scored 5/6 in a very strong field open to all comers. The score won him the title of 2017 West of England U8 Champion;
Daniel Yu played in the U10 section (Saturday and Sunday), and scored 4.5/6 again in a very strong field open to all comers. With a very tight finish he also won the title of 2017 West of England U10 Chess Champion.
Both players received very handsome trophies on which their names will be engraved.
